This 1964 Ford Falcon Futura Sprint is a specially-built celebration of the eight Fords that took on the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally and is the sibling to the Australian-made Falcon XM and XP Hardtop coupes. Ford took on the rally in 1963 and came 43rd but in 1964, finished overall second just behind Paddy Hopkirk’s Mini Cooper S. One year later, Ford overlooked the Sprint in favour of the new Mustang but the new pony never finished in 1965. This car is similar to the one raced by Jim Richards in the Touring Car Masters. Now in Perth, it was carefully modified in the US in the mid-1990s. It was painted red - a mistake given the original black-on-black 260 V8 four-speed manual combo was a very rare factory spec - and the 260 replaced with a warm 302 with a T5 manual box, boosted front and rear disc brakes, completely overhauled suspension to improve handling, and a nine-inch positraction diff from the Galaxie. It also has the original factory-fit Sprint tachometer. The paintwork and interior are in excellent condition, as is the engine and drivetrain. The car has been part of a collection in Perth and is being offered for sale as the collection is reduced. The car is on a club license in WA and because of its condition and ease of driving, is an enjoyable car to be used daily. This vehicle can be inspected in Perth. A technician’s report can be arranged. Additional information and photographs are available. Transport to any buyer location and inspection reports can be arranged at buyer’s cost.
