2000 RENAULT CLIO V6 TROPHY CHASSIS NUMBER #135.

The owner has supplied the following information:-

This is a genuine ex works race car Clio V6 Trophy and was raced throughout Europe as part of the Renault Sport Clio Trophy series in 1999, 2000 and 2001. This was essentially a precursor to the Porsche Carrera Cup.

Sitec Motorsport owned 4 vehicles and subsequently sold off their cars post the completion of the series in 2001 due to collapse/bankruptcy. This particular car went to the Netherlands for private usage for circa 9 years and was subsequently brought to Adelaide by BRM motorsport which the previous owner had the vehicle for circa 9 year. The Sitec livery is still found under the current wrap, which can be removed. The car remains in 2001 evolution specification and is extremely original condition, with the most recent addition by me was a spare seat to take passengers but unfortunately due to COVID, it was not possible. The exhaust has also been removed by the previous owner, to make it a little more free flowing but the engine other than belts, filters, oils etc has not been modified from the factory.

I am the third owner and have had it for circa 12 months. As I was not familiar with the history of the engine, and not wanting to have any issues I undertook the following, which I have receipts for:
• Removal of engine from the vehicle, removal of the timing cover and a new timing belt was fitted, along with a new timing belt tensioner, idler pulleys, all new seals.
• A new water pump was fitted
• Completely flushed the radiator with new coolant, all material did not enter the engine
• All oils were replaced, including gearbox, engine, brakes were flushed etc.
• Relay’s replaced

The vehicle has been taken to The Bend on two occasions this year and has performed above expectations, it is an aural delight.
All Clio V6s were hand assembled. The Clio V6 Mk1s were assembled at the Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) workshops in Uddevalla in Sweden, using parts shipped from France. For the Clio V6 Mk2 production was returned to the Vee's spiritual home at the ex-Alpine Renaultsport Dieppe factory. To recognize the relative rarity of Clio V6s, each car is numbered with a plaque on the centre console behind the handbrake. All the Trophy V6’s were assembled in the Dieppe factory in France and were painted in the same yellow. You can see on the doors and underside of this car the original factory yellow paint.
There were three Clio models manufactured, as follows:

• Phase 1 – Clio V6 230, Engine size 2946cc, Output 230 bhp, top speed 237kph
• Phase 2 – Clio V6 255, Engine size 2946cc, Output 255 bhp, top speed 246 mph
• Trophy – Clio V6, Engine size 2946cc, Output 285 bhp, top speed 249 mph
Original color: Yellow – All Clio V6 Trophy’s were painted yellow, however the race teams changed them to reflect their respective liveries.

This is currently the only known one in the Southern Hemisphere. There are different reports on how many road going V6 Clio’s in Australia, but I think there are between 1 and 2 currently in collections.
