HDT Repco Reliability replica

1980 Commodore, Built for the Repco Reliability Retrial celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original event, a large amount of time and money was invested to ensure that the car was not only reliable but visually identical to the original HDT cars, The original "17" car which finished second in the original event was used as a template for the build with a large amount of photos, measurements and templates used to achieve a tribute/replica that would correct even parked beside one of the original.
The base was an original VC Vacationer factory 4 speed with only 130,000k's, the engine and gearbox were completely overhauled, with minimal modifications, as was the suspension and brakes, with almost all components replaced.
The car was repainted in clear over base 2 pac and the sign writing was sourced from the company that reproduced car 17's original sign writing.
