Ian Davis designed and built the I.D.S. in 1973 and raced it very successfully at AIR, Mallala and Phillip Island, originally fitted with a Ford Kent engine, this was soon replaced with a more powerful Toyota 2t engine, in 1977, which is fitted to the car today as per the historic Certificate of Description. In later specification the car was fitted with a 12A rotary engine which was used after 1985. Full diaries of every race with fields and results from 1987 are combined in two volumes which
