Built in 1973 by Doug Trengove the Nganti was intended to be the next Trengove Cicada, but was completed by Peter Middleton, and called the Nganti Ford, with a view to competing in under 2L Sports car events, it competed at AIR, Mallala, Calder, in the 70’s and early 80’s, including the Australian Sports Car Championship at Phillip Island in 1975. It was driven by Middleton, Peter Smeets, and also ran under the Scotcher Petroleum banner. Looking suspiciously like an Elfin 360 the Aluminium/Fibreglass body was taken from the body moulds for the Boral sports car also built in Adelaide. The car runs a fresh 2 Litre Ford Pinto motor built by Mike Dale, twin Weber carbs, rebuilt Hewland Mk 5 transaxle, Koni shocks.
The car has undergone a full restoration over the last 10 years and ran regularity at the 2023 Mallala Historic meeting. The car is reluctantly for sale due to changed circumstances.
