The Evo VI TME needs no introduction whatsoever. It was the last of the pure homologation Evos – road cars built in specific quantities to qualify for use in motorsport’s Group A and N categories – and the last based on the smaller, lighter, second-generation Lancer bodyshell. Built to celebrate Mäkinen’s 1999 World Rally Championship win (his fourth in a row), it is arguably the most sought-after of all Evolutions due to its dynamics, rarity and sheer driving thrills.

This particular example is one of only 244 ever produced in black and is build number 621 of a total run of 3020 units. Originally a Japan-delivered car, it was imported and complied in 2008 and has been with its current owner for 12 years. Meticulously prepared and maintained, this is a car that thrives both on the track and the street. Its next custodian can make the decision to turn it into a fully-fledged motorsport weapon or simply enjoy it on the road.

Under the bonnet sits a fettled Evo IX crate engine with forged internals and rebuilt head, putting out 250kw on 98 RON to all four wheels, safely tuned to allow the brand-new engine to be run-in but built for serious horsepower should its next owner desire. And for super-fast, precise gearchanges, an Albins dog box and billet PPG diff tube has been installed, mated to a MFactory front differential and Cusco rear differential. As you can tell by now, this car has been built to an impressive standard and was very much a “no expense spared” exercise.

The proposition of this car is incredibly compelling: it has the potential to be a front-running tarmac rally competitor or an exceptionally capable daily drive. Either way you look at it, the “bang for buck” that this impressive Evo delivers is absolutely off the charts.
