October 13 ,2024 marks the 18th anniversary of the 2006 Bathurst 1000, which is arguably one of Mount Panorama's greatest - and surely most emotional - races.
In 2006, the biggest crowd in the event's history descended on the mountain to witness Craig Lowndes honour his late mentor Peter Brock in victorious style.
Lowndes combined with a 23-year-old Jamie Whincup to win Ford’s first Great Race since 1998, and Triple Eight Race Engineering’s first.
The mountain rose as one in shared mourning over the death of nine-time Bathurst winner Brock, who passed away just a month prior.
This would be an awesome piece of Motorsport memorabilia to have displayed.
The Bonnet hasn’t been touched since then. Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup have both signed the bonnet as well.
