I purchased this 987 Cayman S just before lockdowns rolled into town and it's been driven four times on track since we've opened up (as evidenced by the condition of the tyres, which were put on prior to the first day) - all at Wakefield Park, along with a handful of drives on the road for maintenance purposes The Cayman S received a new low km 3.4 engine prior to me purchasing it, comes with a spare set of wheels and has had aesthetic work (clay bar, wax, go faster stripes, interior clean up),carried out, plus a new fuel pickup and a service in my ownership period.

The Cayman S was developed by the PO to run in DriveBahturst, pcnsw championship etc, prior to availability of GT4's (following the sale of the car to me the po went to a gt4). It is a 987 S 3.4 with a paddle shift kit installed, cams logbook, adjustable suspension and set up for track work, while still being civilised enough to drive on the road. As a general guide it's a competent and easy to drive club level car...it will be as quick as you are until you hit the limits of the hp available in a 3.4 S engine. The thinking of the development was that a torquey 3.4 with the accuracy of a paddle shift would offer faster lap times than an equivalent manual. This vehicle cannot be returned to road use (vin is US).

As with all track cars, the outlay outweighs the commercial value. It was originally a 20 - 30 car acquisition cost and then 80 - 90 in development. The vehicle comes with two ring binders with categorised lists of parts, numbers, diagrams etc, all categorised (engine, suspension, brakes, wiring etc) to make it an easy maintenance car without any head scratching moments.. Dave at Cavaco has done the minimal work I've required in the past year, Dave at East Coast Suspension was looking after it prior to my ownership and helped develop/build the car so knows it inside out - meaning any suspension questions can be easily addressed down the track.

Driving experience - pulls very well, quite balanced and playful (as all caymans) and makes all the right noises with the current exhaust on it. For entry level to intermediate club level drivers, this will be a faster car than an equivalent 911, given the mid engine setup allows for easier rotation and a more gradual approach to the envelope of what's possible with the car. It's a very fun car and should provide many hours of happy running to the next owner with modest cost and it won't ever be worth less than the asking as the asking price represents much less than the total of components in the car (ie you could part it out for more than the asking but that imo would be a waste of the hours put into setup).

It has been on rally nsw plates previously and with aircon, mobile phone link etc it's quite a comfortable drive to the track if you don't mind the race seats & harness....so no trailer required. Drive to the track, drive all day and then drive home again. Note that it will be sold unregistered and I am happy to provide advice on registration requirements.
