Audi RS5 endurance car
4 years in the making and its now sorted. This is what Jono Lester has to say about racing it
The DFM Audi is a unique, challenging, fun and exciting vehicle to drive which, as a professional racing driver with 20 years of experience, is like nothing I’ve ever driven anywhere in the world. The car is V8-esque in its DNA and general feeling, but with many modern GT style upgrades and creature comforts including paddle shift, ABS braking, traction control, a wider ’track’, lower centre of gravity and wider, fatter tyres than similar vehicles.
The car’s main strengths are its low-end torque and traction exiting slower corners, and it’s high speed balance. That is to say, in fast, daring corners (think Pukekohe) the Audi really comes into its own. It’s actually very easy to drive fast at high speed, with a slight tendency to understeer with the rear remaining very stable - great for driver confidence.
You’ll find the biggest challenge for a driver and engineer will be in slower, more technical corners or in left-right change of direction areas, such as turns 2-3 at Taupo.
In a sprint race format on grippy Michelin rubber, you can really attack hard, but at the same time the car is of course developed with endurance in mind and - like many big V8s - if you drive the car the right way and treat the gear/machinery/tyres with respect, you will reap the rewards.
I’ve had great fun developing and driving this car with DFM, and there’s still a lot more to be unearthed with the right team of dedicated people at its new home.
Its fast, Jono did 1.03 on Hampton national circuit and that’s without the new aero
Engineering Design by Luke Dinsdale with the Mast LS7, 740HP engine very low and back under fire wall and the 120L fuel tanks in the back seat makes the car very balanced, Gearbox is Hollinger RD6 with paddleshift to a Ford 9 inch diff so it will take the power. Driver aids incl ABS and traction control and full flat floor with diffuser
Most of the panels are fibreglass, moulds go with the car
Full engineering specs available on request, Comes with as much gear as you would want to run this calibre of endurance car or nothing depending on your situation
Sitting as it came off the National Endurance Championship at Hampton
Wanting $200k which of course depends on what extras you want

Be quick as this is such a unique bespoke car interest should be high,
