For Sale is my “Evo 3” street and track car.

In 2019 the car was refreshed, looked over and motor was rebuilt by the highly regarded Mitsubishi Evolution specialist Nick Ashwin of NA Autosport and Engineering. The invoices for this work total over $30,000. For those unfamiliar with Nick he renowned as one of the best in the business having worked for the likes of Chris Atkinson, Possum Bourne Motorsport and Neal Lowe Motorsport amongst other local and international outfits. 

The car is obviously modified but in essence it’s made up of a 1993 GSR shell with full conversion to Evolution components including suspension, motor, gearbox/transfer case, rear diff, and brakes making this shell identical to a genuine Evolution chassis with the exception of retaining the GSR rear glass with no rear wiper, manual HVAC controls as opposed to the Evo climate control unit and it lacks the “CE9A” code in the VIN.

It’s on full Queensland Rego and legitimised by the blue plate /engineers certificate for the 6 point weld in roll cage and change to seats/seating capacity. It also has air-conditioning.

Visually It’s no concourse winner but it is tidy and the presents well. The rear bumper, rear spats, rear wing, side skits and front guards are all genuine Evolution 3. The bonnet is a replica fibreglass item and the front bumper is genuine Evolution 2. The low profile mirrors are well finished although they are just ABS plastic and even though the front lip is Bunnings derived it still looks good.

The package is making a very conservative 182kw at the wheels on 98 with flat torque. With a modern ECU I’m told it could be safely making 300kw at the wheels on 98 but for me at the current power level it’s plenty fast enough as is.
