Tesla Model 3 + Unplugged Performance Upgrades

Blistering performance, strong handling characteristics and virtually instantaneous power. Not too many cars come close to the value proposition of a Tesla Model 3. And whilst we are yet to see a one make racing series for EVs in Australia, the trend is already well and truly underway overseas (particularly in the USA) so it is just a matter of time before we see it here as well.

This particular dual motor Model 3 is a dedicated track car (it cannot be registered) and comes with over $30k AUD of upgrades from a specialist EV tuning house in the USA.

With only 24,000kms on the odometer, the car runs perfectly and charges faultlessly – the only reason it cannot be re-registered is due to water damage that occurred whereby the insurance provider deemed the car a write-off. The car also boasts self-driving and fast-charging as optional extras that were specified when ordered, as well as a charger.

The owner’s initial plan was to remove some excess weight from the Model 3, re-map the ECU and aim for a zero to 100km/h time of sub 3 seconds. However, the Tesla is now reluctantly being offered for sale along with the comprehensive upgrade package courtesy of Unplugged Performance, as follows:

• Front carbon ceramic brakes
• Two sets of performance brake pads
• Front bumper lip extension
• Side skirts (fitted)
• Set of sports springs
• Front sway bar
• Rear sway bar
• Front spoiler (fitted)
• Rear diffuser
• Rear camber arms
• Carbon side mirrors (fitted)

The seller notes that there is a small dent on the driver’s side front quarter panel (refer image gallery) as well as a cracked front windscreen (a Perspex replacement windscreen will be included with the sale). These items aside, the car drives exactly as it did when it left the factory in Fremont, California.

For anyone with ambitions to build an EV track car that delivers exceptional performance at a very realistic price, this Model 3 could be the perfect opportunity to turn it into a reality. There are some professional workshops and Tesla owners in other parts of the world that have managed incredible lap times from these cars and we have no doubt that we will see more and more of them at the racetrack in coming years as their popularity soars (as a point of reference, take a look at the video that is included in the image gallery of what a Model 3 is capable of at the Tsukuba Circuit in Japan).

Due to other commitments, the Tesla must now be sold so if you are in the market for a car that offers supercar performance (at a fraction of the price) and impressive handling characteristics, then we suggest you place a bid now to make it yours.
