1957 Jaguar "D-Type" 3.8L Long Nose Tribute/Replica - Exact "Ecurie Ecosse" Winning 1957 Le Mans Factory Team Race Car - Exact Re-Creation

We are extremely proud and honoured to offer you this very special opportunity in securing one of the most significant "tribute" race/classic cars of our time. This is as close as you can and will get to owning the "Le Mans Winning" 1957 Jaguar D-Type "Long Nose" which came 1st place at Le Mans piloted by Scottish team Ecurie Ecosse works driver Ron Flockhart and Ivor Bueb. The actual winning car sold at RM in 2016 for Pound Sterling $$28million.......Yep. This exact tribute was built in 1980 under the expertise of X works team members at Proteus Cars UK and the body was moulded off the "ACTUAL" race winning car which this was built alongside back in 1980!!. This has the correct 3.8L XK engine with triple Webers, mated to her 4 speed Moss gearbox with reverse gear and she is raw and rough and harsh as a true race car is and should be. After competing on club/pro level for many years in the UK by 1st owner, she then competed in Sth Africa by her 2nd custodian and was timed at 150MPH on the Zwartkops Circuit in Sth Africa, and this car could qualify for "LeMans Classics''. Since being imported to Australia by her last custodian and owner racer she has mainly competed in club track days and a number of hill climbs but could quiet easily get back into full time historic racing if required. BUT this stunning 50's Motorsport queen has been engineered and made compliant for classic road registered as current QLD registration on her but may need qualification in other states, so you may need to check. This is one of the most significant race cars ever made and to win the most famous race in the world Le Mans, this was the last year the Jaguar D-Type Long Nose came 1/2/3 that year as the British Works effort’s failed in 1956, the privateer team, Ecurie Ecosse, claimed victory, as it did again in 1957. For ‘58, the Le Mans rules were changed to limit engine capacity to 3.0 litres, and that was it for the D-Type’s competitive racing days......This is an exact tribute with a few modern additions like "Big Fuel Tank" and Swill Tank and 2 Fuel Pumps for better usage daily.

The car is noted as being very fast, with its lightweight and powerful 3.8 XK triple Webers DD six-cylinder is fitted with Cosworth pistons, Kent Cams designed for historic racing balanced but quiet Revy when pushed which she loves to, producing 300+HP like the factory race car. Her patina is a little marked and bruised not bashed or scratched as she was back in 1957, she has some scares which is how she was built and keeps the old charm about her and presence. Her factory works Jaguar Racing Wheels with "KnockOffs" on Dunlop Period Tyres as is in 1957 old look tyres but newer profile for current day use. The Moss gearbox shifts well, and with its E-Type independent rear suspension and four-wheel disk brakes, the car handles and brakes very well, while the side-exit exhaust adds a competition flair. Today, the engine is very clean in presentation, complete with triple Weber carburettors.

In total 87 D-Types were made, which included 16 of the XKSS road-going derivatives. This exact replica of the winning car from 1957 is one of the most collectable re-creation on the race car tribute market built to the highest exact standards you could find anywhere in the world. As the actual factory cars are so valuable, tributes have started to make north due to the value of the real cars. The closest to the real the highest regards and you cannot get higher then this tribute moulded from the actual winning team works cars and mechanicals built to the exact spec as the factory car. This is your only opportunity as this car has always moved "off market" from 1st to last owner so this is the first time she has been on the global market.

Appropriately finished in the "Ecurie Ecosse Blue" as per the Scottish Works Team colours under David Murray's leadership with Period Finished cabin. Dunlop pegged alloy wheels with knock-offs and Dunlop racing tyres, this car is a wonderful link to the glory days of 1950s sports car racing. Since most original D-Types are within long-term ownership and rarely come to market, this car offers the opportunity to experience the legendary D-Type either on the road or race track of your choice at a ridiculous value price point.
