Rare as rare 1968 model Datsun 1600 (P510) with the inward wiping windscreen wipers that set them obviously apart from all the rest.
This 68 Datto 1600 looks to be one of the first of the first with a very low build number on VIN. Still has both original matching compliance plates
This thing WAS completely original when I found it nearly 30 years ago. It's been locked in my garage ever since. Body was sandblasted inside, outside and underneath, etch primed and outer surfaces 2 pac primed with a thin layer of black over the top to seal. There is still rust to be repaired but everything is completely uncovered from the sand blasting so no surprises. It was back to its bare bones and i started on it but due to injury has then sat locked in my garage and not touched for a further 15 plus years. All panels (aside from bonnet) are off the tidiest 1600 i ever had about 25 years ago and are all still pretty well rust free. Thought I'd be able to eventually tinker with it or just keep it forever so the dream doesn't die, but I'm now out of options and can't afford storage. It's gotta go.
Comes with nearly everything to get it in one piece and going. I've had 13 datto 1600s over my younger years and kept the best bits off all of them for this one.
L16 stroker ready for final assembly.
L16 with 2Lt forged steel counterweighted crank.
A87 closed chamber head, extensively ported and flow tested a number of times.
Very nasty custom profile crow cam with all associated parts to suit.
Flat top pistons custom fly cut to suit that cam in that head
Moly rings
Quad 55mm throttle bodies on Dattrally manifold
Eb falcon injectors (not fitted)
All engine parts/tolerances were finalised, balanced and all machining just done when my accident happened. Parts were oiled and wrapped in plastic. It was ready for final assembly to be a top end screamer.
Skyline 5 speed box (stumpy)
Vented commodore discs and callipers on 180b struts
Subaru discs and callipers to put on rear
Adjustable caster bars and sway bar set
Collapsible Steering column
A few different rack and pinions but never fitted. All original steering parts there.
6 Point alloy bond cage
GT corbeau race seats (will need reapoulstering)
Rpm harnesses
Boxes of tail lights and badges etc
Spare radiator support (whole front)
Perfect 68 grill and headlight surrounds
