2009 Skoda Octavia RS-P Tarmac Rally Wagon Targa

This is the one and only 2009 Skoda Octavia RS-P wagon, that was built by VW Australia, for Skoda to evaluate the feasibility of a higher performance RS model with the (then new to Skoda) DSG 6 speed. It was then transformed into a full blown Tarmac Rally car (with factory support) by PPE Engineering in Melbourne, & competed in the 2010, & 2011 Targa Tasmania events. In the competent hands of Car-sales Motoring Journalist Mike Sinclair, it well & truly punched above its weight, and it managed to be the fastest FWD in the Modern Category, & 6th fastest 2WD outright in 2010. In 2011, competing in the Western Sydney Giants livery, it scored a 2nd place in showroom class, only beaten by a factory entered, AWD Mazda MPS.

It was then retired by Skoda, & mothballed in a VW Australia warehouse, until a few years ago when it was internally auctioned off, & was bought by an Albury Skoda dealer. It hasn’t done much work since then, spending most of its time in a Skoda sales showroom, getting occasional use at Wodonga track days. This awesome wagon recently had a run in the wet, at Ludenham racetrack (Sydney) at the Australian VW Nationals, where it posted a time of 57.113, with street tyres, by an amateur driver who was driving within his limits. Obviously in the hands of an accomplished racer, it definitely could have been even faster. Was 6th fastest (fastest FWD) in the wet.

This low kms wagon is very well documented on Car-sales, has been built to an amazing standard with a lot of bespoke parts, with a factory backed budget most amateurs could only dream of, & has had very little competitive use, & barely has a scratch on it. It still gets started regularly & the battery has just been replaced with a new item. If it was a Holden or Ford, it would already be over the hundred thousand mark, so grab a bargain while Skoda Australia don’t value their racing heritage.
Car is being sold as-is, in its original factory white paint, minus all racing livery & signage, with its original set of SKODA black alloys & matching spare, on a set of almost new, barely used semi slicks. There are too many parts that make up this car to list individually, & most are in the photographs, but if you take some time to read through the articles like I did, you’ll soon realise Volkswagen Australia spent a small fortune building this car, which also has a MOROSO oil accumulator tucked down at the base of the radiator that hasn’t been mentioned in the write-ups on the mods. Very reluctant sale.
