An Exercise in Excess
Just occasionally a car gets made to celebrate what can be done when a bunch of engineers get together and tear up the rule book. With the impending move towards electrification and hybridisation, the boffins at Aston Martin huddled together and talked in hushed tones about the idea of taking the mega twin-turbo 5.2 litre V12 from the DBS Superleggera and shoehorning it into the smallest car they make, the Vantage.
What we ended up with after countless hours and millions of pounds of R & D (and no doubt some very late nights) is a last hurrah for a pure combustion V12 Vantage and a celebration of all things bonkers, bespoke and British.
That prodigious 515Kw of power is channelled to the rear wheels by a rapid shifting ZF 8 speed gearbox, and as expected, the performance numbers are spectacular. 0-100Km/h in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 320Km/h (or 200mph in the old money). Coupled with some electric trickery to flatter the driver, a drop dead gorgeous body and interior, it was no surprise that all 333 coupes to be built globally sold out instantly when the car was announced.
This particular car here was carefully specified by its owner to compliment those stunning wide arches, and also give its occupants a real wow factor on the inside. Finished in Apex Grey with a full Matte PPF wrap installed by Roadbloc, the seller chose a stunning two tone Onyx Black and Spicy Red interior with satin carbon finishes everywhere that isn’t leather.
This particular car has a special order woven leather finish specially reserved for the Valkyrie hypercar, and as such is believed to be the only V12 Vantage with this interior that was built across all examples.
