Best of both worlds - a highly-competitive and enduring race car that retains all its originality, including original UK MOT certificates, receipts and owners’ logs. This 1969 MGC has had a long and fruitful life in the hands of enthusiasts but has always been meticulously cared for, indicated by the original paint, rust-free body and boxes (and boxes) or spare parts and original parts. The car has been owned for more than 20 years by a well-known West Australian bitumen rally and blacktop competitor and has been continuously maintained, enhanced and repaired its entire life. Most of the chassis is new and updated including suspension upgrades to Spax shocks and the replacement of the original king-pin front suspension with a ball-joint type. The engine is a 2.9-litre inline six that has been rebuilt and renovated at least six times in its current ownership. It has the original head but a new block (the original block has been reconditioned and rebuilt as a complete replacement engine, and is included in the sale along with the original gearbox, diff and so on), now with triple Weber carburettors, electric fan and water pump, oil catch can, rebuilt Ford T9 five-speed gearbox, 3.7 rear diff (3.07 included) two sets of wheels and tyres (Preformance Minilite lookalikes with Toyo racing tyres are fitted but wire wheels with road tyres are included). A performance exhaust is fitted for racing but a complete standard exhaust system is included. There are racing seats (original seats included), lightweight plexi rear window (original glass with rubber included) and a bolt-in half cage. The buyer will need a shed with some room to store the additional parts or can sell these to MG owners. The owner said the car is regularly used in club events where it performs extremely well and has shown to be very reliable while being easy to maintain and repair. This car is in very good condition and will represent an attractive buy for someone who enjoys club motoring events, and/or as a car to be turned back to its original stock condition. It is offered for sale at $69,000 negotiable. The car is currently on concessional licence in WA but can be licensed for the road licence. Inspection is in Perth southern suburbs. Some additional information and photographs are available. Transport to any buyer location and inspection reports can be arranged at the buyer’s cost.
