The AC Schnitzer S5 3.0iX is a Schnitzer conversion of a BMW 525 iX This car was built by BMW in RHD (unique for a 525iX) and then underwent the conversion at the UK Schnitzer workshop. The original M50 BMW engine is replaced with a Schnitzer S5 engine which is 3.0 litre and with Schnitzer cams, porting and new manifold and exhaust. 1961 Elfin Zephyr Special. No.14 of the first 23 Elfin's ever made. Built by Noel Heard & Gary Cooper using a 2.6 L Zephyr 6 cylinder motor. Noel raced it in the 1961 Grand Prix. Won many hill climb championships, this is a great piece of Australian motor racing history. Noel completely rebuilt the car in 1998. The car has been used very little since. It is logged as a group M car with many photos & trophies. Sadly, Noel Heard is no longer with us but he was a wealth of information about the car
