Daihatsu Charade 926R Copy

Daihatsu Charade Mid-engined 926R Tribute / Copy.
This was built as a copy of Daihatsu’s little-known prototype Group B rally car (Google 'Charade 926R' to see the original factory cars). It started life as a front wheel drive 1985 G11 Charade Turbo and has been converted to mid-engined rear wheel drive, to suit rally, hillclimb or circuit. Re-registration for road use would be very unlikely due to mods.
It is running the 993cc DOHC 12 valve intercooled turbo engine from the Japanese Charade GTti production car (the 926R ran a 926cc version of the same engine). The car has a new set of harnesses and looks pretty neat. Has the rare factory rear spoiler. I’ve done a couple of Sydney Motorsport Park track days in it, but there are still a few things needing sorted for competition, and the engine has a few oil leaks and low compression and needs a refresh. I last had it running in 2018 but have since been unable to start it.
Alternatively, the 1.3, 1.5 & 1.6L engines also fit.
The car comes with a range of useful spares including GTti gearbox & drive shafts, struts, instrument cluster,,steering rack, rods etc.
It has an excellent AGI 3/4 roll cage (double-braced hoop, stays to rear and front - photo included of it early in the build).
It comes with a new top-end engine gasket set for the rebuild.
Body is very good.
It could be finished as a 926R copy (add body kit etc) or finished off as is. The stud pattern has been upgraded to 4x100mm, and the car has ventilated front discs and solid rear discs.
I am selling it as a project to be finished by the new owner to their satisfaction. The hard work is done here, and it would be great to see someone finish it and race or rally it. I would prefer the buyer to inspect it for themselves before purchase, but am happy for buyer to arrange interstate transport if needed.
