This striking Daytona Coupe offered here is a rare and compelling piece of motorsport engineering, built on an extensively modified Factory Five chassis, with floor sections lowered by 50mm to increase headroom, enlarged cabin area, multiple layers of side and frontal impact protection, enlarged footwells with RHS frame sections added in conjunction with increased chassis down tubes which combined increase torsional stiffness by around 300% above standard.

The Daytona Coupe is without question one of the most iconic racing cars ever built, a faithful recreation of a 1960s legend. Originally conceived by Peter Brock and Bob Negstad under the direction of Carroll Shelby, its mission was clear: to defeat the Ferrari 250 GTO in GT competition. That goal was spectacularly achieved, with victories at major events such as the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 1965 24 Hours of Daytona, culminating in the capture of the World GT Championship. Since then, the Daytona has appropriately achieved legend status in the world of American car design and still looks the part today.

This particular example was initially imported in kit form in 2014 and converted to RHD, along with around 18 months of chassis modifications to improve, ride, occupant comfort and usability as both a track and street car. Following the fabrication stage the chassis was professionally blasted, epoxy and urethane coated to preserve its structure for decades to come. The body is fibreglass with extensive reinforcement and refinement throughout to accommodate the cabin and chassis modifications.

Fitted with a GM LS3 crate motor, Stage 2 Crow Cam, beehive lifters, double row timing chain and thermostatically controlled external oil cooler with custom radiator, controlled by an unlocked M80 CPU. The new TR6060 gearbox is coupled to an 8.8” independent rear end which includes a Torsen LSD, Ford racing rear cover and 3.55:1 gear set. Wheels are 5 stud Halibrand 17’s in 8 and 10 inch widths, drilled to a standard Ford pattern. The car has been recently painted in Dayton Sunset Orange and although fully commissioned and tested has zero street or track mileage.

All component records have been maintained, with ADR recognized parts used throughout, including Willwood brakes, steering collapsible column, door latches and strikes, warning and emergency light panel, gauge illumination, retractable seat belts, seats, head and tail lights, signal and fog lamps.

Ready to finalise the interior trim and customise the exterior to suit, there is less than a weeks effort in total to have a fully completed and ready to run car. Track or street capable, the car is >99% complete with over 2,500 hours and $130,000 spent to date.

As a track car, fit the required belts, stickers and extinguisher, update the damper settings on the QA1 dual coil over shocks and its ready to go.

As a street car, considerable effort has been spent to refine the driver and passenger experience, with extensive use of sound and heat shielding throughout the entire chassis and body. The car is fully carpeted, has an under floor storage compartment and tie down anchors in the rear cargo area. Additions also include; cruise control, rear view camera, dash cam, interior cabin and footwell lighting, power electric windows, 4 speaker stereo, USB power outlets, glove box, door storage pockets, remote central locking, air conditioning, electric handbrake, triple point immobilizer and Motec PDM with keypad to control the major system functions.

The Daytona’s bodywork presents in excellent condition with zero marks or stone chips. The interior has sporty overtones that reflect its dynamic capabilities with a number of more modern touches.

A comprehensive roll cage keeps occupants safe, along with a pair of Daytona bucket seats, ready to trim to your specification. The Motec PDM is fully programable, and the car is fitted with a console mounted ignition cut-off switch.

Complete with all parts, bolts and fittings require to customize and complete, the car comes with an optional rear diffuser that bolts to the fitted flat floor and a custom front splitter for track only use.

This car represents a unique opportunity to own a vehicle with truly amazing dynamic capabilities that is also refined and comfortable if a cruise is more your style. An ideal candidate for track days, club racing or further development for serious competition use. Rarely do Daytona Coupes come up for sale and seldom an example in this condition - this is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a very special car that is sure to deliver its next owner and first driver many years of future enjoyment.
