A Champion's Pedigree:
The "Day Special" boasts a competition history that reads like a who's who of Australian racing. Originally a 1925 Bugatti Type 39 , this remarkable machine was transformed after its original engine failed during the 1932 Australian Grand Prix, receiving a powerful Ford V8 engine in 1933. It was reborn, ready to conquer the tracks!

• 1931 Phillip Island Australian Grand Prix Winner: Driven to victory by the legendary Carl Junker!
• Dominated the Inaugural Rob Roy Hillclimb: Jack Day set the fastest time of the opening Hillclimb day!
• Bathurst Royalty: Raced extensively at Bathurst in October 1947 and over Easter in 1948, 1949, 1950, and 1954.
• Piloted by Legends: Beyond Junker, Day and Reg Nutt, this car was also raced by the famous "Gelignite" Jack Murray!
• Extensive Race History: Its competitive past includes the 1925 French Touring GP, 1926 Italian GP Voiturettes, numerous NSW sprints and hill climbs from 1926-1928, and further Australian GPs from 1931-1935. It also competed in Victorian race and hill climb meetings in 1936-37, the S.A. GP in 1938, and road races, hill climbs, and sprints at Hawkesbury, Mt Druitt, and Parramatta Park tracks from 1947-1950.

• Engine: A powerful Ford Flathead V8, with a 4379cc capacity. It features Edelbrock aluminium cylinder heads and Stromberg 97 carburettors and a scintilla vertex magneto.
• Transmission: A pre-selective Wilson 4-speed gearbox.
• Suspension: Traditional Bugatti beam axle front and rear, both with leaf springs.
• Brakes: Hydraulic drum brakes front (15" diameter) and rear (10" diameter).
• Wheels: Bugatti/Rudge-Whitworth “knock-on” wire wheels 16" diameter.
• Body: This is a single seat race car on the original Bugatti wheel base weighing in at 800Kg
