Price reduced to AUD55000.00!! Selling on behalf of the family of the late Jim McConville. Historically important 1000cc Formula 2 Cooper T75 Alfa Romeo, chassis F2-2-65 built February 1965. Sold new to Ken Tyrrell who had Jackie Stewart set a new lap record at Silverstone in 1965, BRM powered. Sold (with its sister F2-3-65 now in a Japanese collection) to Alf Francis (Stirling Moss' mechanic) who installed an Alfa Romeo-supplied 998cc twin cam (105 / Guiletta engine destroked) on twin 40s and a Colotti-Francis gearbox. Raced throughout Europe, then sold to Aristotle Onassis to be used as an academy car for aspiring F1 drivers with Jo Siffert as instructor and some-time race driver. Sold to the US and raced with a 1000cc Cosworth in Formula C before arriving in Australia in 1990. Restored and rebuilt by renowned Austin Healey specialist Steve Pike. Owned and raced by Jim McConville at 25 successive Winton Historics, for example. Engine block rebuilt 2023. The car has not raced in five years since Jim's passing. The engine and gearbox have not yet been reinstalled and the car will need some recommissioning and refurbishment. Importantly, fluoroscope inspection of chassis tubes reveals no corrosion, especially the top one carrying coolant to the engine. Many spares included ...
