1968 AMC AMX 390, Short Wheel Base Rambler Javelin

Previously offered for $44,950 this four speed 6.4 litre AMC AMX is the rare short wheel base Rambler Javelin. Imported from New Jersey in 2012, by the current owner, this left hand drive car is a genuine two seater, and as with the Shelby Mustang and Chev Corvette is eligible for Motor Sport Australia Group S historic production based sports car racing.
Over the last decade the vehicle has undergone a detailed development in engine, suspension and drivetrain (floating hubs included) but as a Queensland concessionally registered road car, the ride is still street-comfortable.
Brutal in a straight line the AMX still runs with its standard power steering .
This timeless classic presents as a smart, nicely finished road car with near original interior and beautifully maintained satin black, ribbed head lining. The body is rust free and extremely sound.
The AMX comes with extra gauges, battery isolator and a half roll cage but is missing part of the standard carpet for the rear half of the cabin.
The Australian ROH 15 " wheels came fitted to the car when imported and are shod with Yokohama soft road/rally tyres. The car is finished in a resplendent metallic Rally Green offset with gold stripes.
Currently, the car needs some mechanical work and is offered 'as is'. A 2013 built, PBL tandem axle car trailer (fitted with a 12,500 lbs electric winch and remote) was tailor made for the AMX and is offered separately. Currently with Qld concessional registration ( subject to state laws) the car wears personalised plates #68-AMX which are available for transfer with the vehicle.
