Location
Lawrie Nelson's Mk3 Ford Capri 3.0S Group C race car.
Raced at the Bathurst 1000 and in the ATCC between 1979 and 1983
Afterwards it became a club car racing in Marque Sports category from time to time.
Since Phillip Is Historic meeting in 2019 It has been racing in the Heritage Touring Car series ( Historic Group A & C class)
It comes with a Historic Log Book & Certificate Of Description. I also have the cancelled original Group C log book.
This is the fastest & best handling Group C Capri. ( I know, I have a few of them)
It has suspension from period UK Group 1 Capri masters CC Racing via Nelsons association with UK Ford Motorsport.
It also benefits from legal period upgrades from the Group A Capri Homologation. (all paperwork to back this supplied with car)
Engine is an all steel Essex 3.0 V6 (steel main caps, crank & rods)
Engine is late "D" port motor as used in period
Inlet manifold is a UK Group 1 special, brought back to Aus in period by B.Seton, has larger port runners.
Engine has twin 45 Webers on a rams horn manifold
Distributor is electronic and has cable drive taco
Engine has dry sump lubrication
Engine was rebuilt by B.Seton in 2015 achieving 256HP ( highest HP Group C engine Seto has built)
Engine has just been refreshed with rings & bearings
Gearbox is type 5 4 speed unit with original period Hewland close ratio gearset & quaiffe quickshifter
Diff is set up with four link bars and watts link, it has AP caliper disc brake conversion (Group A) and ZF plate LSD
If you want to run in HTC with original cars this is a great option, it does not need a lot of work at the track.
There is a lot of good racing mid pack, with racers that respect the value of these vehicles
