Bought new by Jack Brabham Garages, Surbiton, Surrey, UK for Gary Brabham to run in BBC Grandstand FF2000 series. Brabham placed 7th in a hotly contested series that created 5 future GrandPrix drivers.
Car was sold at end of 1984 and shipped to North America where it contested the very popular North American FF2000 series for a couple of years before slipping into obscurity.
Was then purchased and shipped to New Zealand where for some years it sat in a South Island racecar collection.
I purchased it from that collection about 14 years ago, shipped it to Brisbane and had it restored by Racecar Restorations at Tweed Heads. The mechanicals/suspension were all removed and taken back to a bare spaceframe. Chassis was then powdercoated gloss Black and refitted. Engine and Gearbox checked over and refitted. Bodywork then repainted in Glasurit Gloss Black as original.
Car was then used for 5 or 6 seasons of Morgan Park Sprint series and GEAR days. Engine has since been refreshed.
These cars are fabulous to drive, very strong in the chassis, very forgiving to drive. The 2litre Ford Pinto has heaps of torque with power from 1500rpm right thru to 6500rpm, you dont need to ver rev them of be looking for powerbands or the right gear. They just keep pulling.
If you are after a pure racecar, simple n cheap to maintain, safe n easy to drive this is a great opportunity.
Absolutely must be sold, phone me to discuss.
