When it comes to iconic automotive styling, the first-generation Audi TT immediately springs to mind. Revolutionary in first generation form, the Audi TT was manufactured from 1998 to 2023 but it is the iconic Mk1 that achieved cult status in the automotive world and is now considered somewhat of a modern classic.

Having said that, aside from its exterior styling, the Audi TT you are looking at is a far cry from the cars that rolled off the Audi AG production line in Gyor, Hungary. In fact, this is possibly the most highly modified first generation Audi TT in the country. Despite its high-output engine, thanks to Audiโ€™s all-wheel drive Quattro technology, the owner states that the car is very easy to drive.

Built by renowned tuning house The Phirm (Surrey, UK), it is almost impossible to quantify the investment made in the Audi from both a time and investment perspective. Two full folders of receipts suggest that in excess of ยฃ100,000 GBP (~$200k AUD) has been spent on the car during its lifetime.

A high-level overview of the TTโ€™s specification as follows:

โ€ข Fully forged 1.8T 20v inline four-cylinder engine (~500hp on low boost)
โ€ข Garrett GT30X turbo
โ€ข Badger 5 equal-length stainless tubular manifold
โ€ข Genesis 550cc injectors
โ€ข Bahn Brenner billet alloy fuel rail
โ€ข Forge front mount intercooler
โ€ข Aquamist 1 S water/methanol injection system
โ€ข Handcrafted custom pipework throughout
โ€ข Factory six speed H-pattern manual transmission with CAE Racing shifter
โ€ข Ramair intake
โ€ข Custom 3-inch downpipe and screamer pipe (V-banded and mandrel bent)
โ€ข Forge DV007 diverter valve
โ€ข Robinson Race Cars FIA 8.50 specification roll cage
โ€ข Recaro Pole Position bucket seats and Schroth five-point harnesses
โ€ข Momo flat-bottom removable steering wheel
โ€ข Stack gauges and custom instrument cluster
โ€ข Wizards of NOS nitrous system
โ€ข Custom full carbon fibre bonnet (with external venting) and Perspex windows
โ€ข Koni fully adjustable coilovers
โ€ข Neuspeed front and rear swaybars
โ€ข Upgraded and adjustable Haldex controller
โ€ข Full front and rear poly bushes throughout
โ€ข AP Racing big brake conversion with braided lines
โ€ข Lightweight Compomotive wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888R tyres

The current owner imported the car from the UK with the intention of competing in local motorsport events however after taking the car for one shakedown at Mallala, he has realised that health issues will prevent him from truly enjoying the car to its fullest potential and therefore it is time to handover the keys to a new owner.

Whether the new custodian wants to go drag racing, roll racing, do track days, club sprints or perhaps compete in hill climbs, then this car would have the potential to put its driver on the podium, without question.

And with Audi AG deciding to retire the TT badge, it is very likely that these first-generation cars will become highly collectable. So if you are in the market for what would have to be one of the most unique Audi TTs in the country, then this could be the one for you.
