The Knight in V10 Armour

After a decade of teetering on the brink of disappearing into the abyss with so many other iconic marques, Lamborghini under the ownership of VW knew they needed to pull something very special out of the hat. Enter the Gallardo. Named for the 18th century Spanish bullfighting breeder Francisco Gallardo (meaning Gallant), the Gallardo was unveiled at the 2003 Geneva motor show and from the second the covers were whipped off, it was a runaway success and put Lamborghini back on the map as a mid-size supercar contender.

Its sharp lines and powerful mid-engine proportions still look absolutely perfect, some 20 years later. Long, slender vertical headlights lead to a windshield that appears to be laid flat, along with tight door glass and wheels that perfectly fill out the arches. Also new to Lamborghini was the sonorous and immensely characterful 5.0 V10, an engine that through all its Gallardo and Huracan variants is as synonymous with Lamborghini as the Bizzarrini V12 in its flagship siblings.

In its original first iteration as seen here, it produced 368Kw (or the magic 500PS Euro yardstick) at a heady 7800rpm and produced a sound that is still one of the all-time greats. Mated to an all-wheel drive system and coupled to an open-gate 6 speed manual gearbox, this car provided sublime and surefooted handling in any conditions and many bigger more expensive cars struggled to keep its tail lights in sight.

This gorgeous car we present for sale is a one owner Australian delivered car with just 3,457 km from new making it one of the lowest mileage generation one Gallardo’s in the world. Finished in the hero colour of Giallo Evros over black leather, is it a remarkable time capsule to 2004. Both the interior and exterior are in incredible condition commensurate with the low kilometres and the only noticeable change being the costly addition of a factory glass engine cover in place of the standard metal cover (original will be provided with car).

An analogue and iconic masterpiece from its angular design, iconic V10 engine and open-gate gearbox. For the serious collector, this is possibly the only opportunity to acquire an Australian delivered Gallardo of this calibre.
