Lolita Mk3 Clubman – Henry Nehrybecki

Few names carry the same respect in Australian motorsport engineering as Henry Nehrybecki.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Henry established himself as one of Australia's most accomplished race car designers and constructors, responsible for iconic machines including the Lolita Mk1, Lolita Mk2, Matich SR4, and Matich A50. Many of his designs were race winners in period, with some continuing to hold lap records decades later.

Having designed and built the original Lolita Mk1 and Mk2 Clubman sports cars in 1969, Henry spent the following three decades applying his engineering expertise to the maintenance, development and tuning of Lamborghini and other prestigious European marques. Despite his success in the road car industry, his passion for lightweight sports racing cars never faded.

The result was the Lolita Mk3, his final interpretation of the Clubman concept.

Retaining the unmistakable design DNA of the earlier Lolitas while embracing modern engineering, the Mk3 features composite body construction and is powered by the legendary Subaru WRX turbocharged flat-four engine, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The combination delivers the performance, reliability and power-to-weight ratio expected of a serious modern Clubman. Unlike many purpose-built race cars, the Mk3 was engineered with dual-purpose intent: to be equally at home on the circuit while also meeting the requirements for future NSW road registration.

This chassis is Build No. 0000001 - the only example ever completed. Following its initial track test, the car underwent a series of refinements however ill health took hold of Henry and his goal of making several units did not come to fruition. Thus, this is the only car that was built and has remained in the hands of family to this date. As a result, this is not simply another Clubman... it is a unique piece of Australian automotive history and the final chapter in the career of one of the country's great engineers.
