GIVE A WAY!!! Bargain Historic Touring Car with great history. Good handling & braking, reliable power.
Owners (Leigh Drennan, James Mack, Rowland Palmer, Richard Taylor, Ken Eade, Eddie Melle)
Constructed by Leigh Drennan of Ballina NSW 1979.
The aluminium roll cage was built by Leigh and Stan Brown of Aluminium Engineering, Brookvale Sydney.
Originally painted lime green with yellow stripe to match his cement truck business colours.
Lime green carpet was put in to replace the missing rubber mats and this was an often commented on feature. He later painted it red/white.

Engine
Original engine was built by Neville Aulder of Aulder Performance, Brookvale (Sydney, NSW).
(Neville ran a VW Kombi wheel-stander named Mechanical Ape).
Used truck blocks (green?) to build the motors as ‘could do more with them’.
The motor was bored 100 thou over with very short (almost none) skirt pistons giving a bit over 4 litre capacity. The engine revved to claimed 7500 with the manual and later to 8000rpm when the auto was fitted. 45mm Webers were choked to 48mm and fitted with long inlet runners (ram tubes) about 11⁄2 feet long (these went right across to the shock tower).

Gearbox
Built as 3 speed manual and raced 3 years like that. Steve Buchard of S & B Automatics built a high stall race auto for it. The car went from a front third of pack to a top 3 or 4 car without any other changes. The pipe welded from the tunnel to the dash underside was to act as a foot brace! Race starts were left foot brake with the high stall just shy of spinning the rear wheels. The left foot was then put straight to the brace position.

Suspension
Shock absorbers were adjustable Koni’s front and back.
Large roll bar front, smaller rear.

Race History
Oran Park, Amaroo Park, Lakeside, Wanneroo, Narrogin, Albany

This is a very cheap but great fun HTC that you can be proud of whenever you are at the track. It will always attract a lot of attention and interest.
Would be one of probably two left that raced in period. Please call Mike 0417943522 or mike@bluevista.net.au. Video available of running at Wanneroo Raceway in 2022
