My completed Sonic kit car is up for sale. No doors, no weight, just road legal open wheeled fun! The original design was by MEV (Mills Extreme Vehicles) in the UK, but the chassis was re-engineered to comply with Australian Design Rules. It is based on 2004 Ford Focus 1.8l twin cam Zetec 16V engine and five speed gearbox. The engine has been rebuilt with higher lift cams, so there is only 500 km on the engine. My father (Bill Sherwood, racing under the name Bill Tatham) built the original in the late 1960's and raced it up until the mid 1970's. He wanted to beat the local hero's - Moffat, Johnson, Geoghegan, etc, so fitted it with a 302 Windsor mid-mounted. It was indeed very fast in a straight line but no so good around the corners!
